So my son has spent many weeks saving his allowance and doing extra chores to buy a Currents Aqua-pod. We decided to purchase the tank from www.drsfostersmith.com. My son was expecting the unit on a Saturday delivery, with so much anticipation he would not leave the house Saturday to go have lunch in fear that the Fed-x guy would not leave it if he came while we were out. So he got it! After un-boxing the unit we found several issues with it. We first noted there was no manual included but we thought, hey that is what we have the internet for, we can get a copy. Then we found the plastic shield/cover over the lamps had a crack in it. As we moved on we found that the blue atinic bulb did not function correctly. We decided to leave the lights on and see if warming up helped, well waiting we noted a smell, then it me, the fan was not spinning. So I looked into the fan cage area and there were no fins in the fan. So I took the plastic cover off and found the fins just sitting in there. If you look to the right of the fins there is a hole with 4 copper pens, that is where the fins should be. After all that we found the unit was missing the Active Carbon and only came with 3 bioballs. While I am not clear on how many it should come with but 3 seems like on the low end.

We have sent e-mails to both Current and DrsFosterSmith - we hope to get the unit fixed or replaced.

Update:

I have received e-mails from both Current and Drs Foster Smith. There is a replacement unit being shipped out and arrangements have been made to send the original unit back. So far, we have been pleased with the response, both in speed and quality of customer service from both companies. Very nice so far, Thanks to both!

Update: We have recieved the replacment unit and it is in perfect condition. We never did get the RMA/Return shipping  label as stated. i sent a follow up e-mail to Drs Fosters Smith and was told we would get it in 10 business days, but 3 weeks later we have not recieved it. I guess I will have to wait and see if they ever ask for it. But they did replace the unit quickly.

Wow, has it been almost a year since I posted anything. I guess you can tell I am not much of a Blogger. I guess I should try and post more. Even if I just list out some simple scripts and notes and interesting tid bits.  I do need to figure our why the spell check in WP does not work for me.
